Mataranka (NT):

Live and work at our farm! Our Mataranka farm is located about 420 km southeast of the territory capital of Darwin, and 100 km south of Katherine, easy access from the highway.

Rombola Family Farms has a great opportunity for an energetic and organised individual to join the team as Farm Manager at Mataranka, NT.

The Farm Manager is a key support to the row cropping team and will plan, organise, control and coordinate, and perform farming operations to grow crops at Rombola Family Farms.

Key operational accountabilities include:

  • Plan and coordinate the production of all our crops, such as, watermelon and melons according to the organisational plan for the specific season. 
  • Estimating & budgeting costs for monthly & quarterly & yearly farm operations.
  • Manage all new varietal trials and full supply chain analysis for presentation to the Managing Director including selecting and planting seeds, seedlings, and grafting new varieties.
  • Monitor the agreed production schedule to ensure all tasks are completed in line with agreed timing for all plantings. 
  • Liaise with the production team to alter irrigation, nutrition, weed, pest & disease control, and sun screening in a planting as required.
  • Monitor crop health and fruit maturity to forecast fruit volume & quality by week.
  • Contributes constructively and proactively to production team discussion about the design of production schedules with market timing, volume, quality attributes and internal capacity constraints in mind.
  • Maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities, monitoring market activity, and planning crop preparation and production to meet contract requirements and market demand.
  • Maintain farm buildings, fences, equipment and water supply systems.
  • Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
  • Provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

Rombola Family Farms is seeking a passionate and driven Factory Manager to join our team. The Factory Manager is responsible for the day to day production facility operations, supervision of workers/contractors and will work collaboratively with the supply chain team. Rombola Family Farms grows over 4000 hectares of horticultural production. We have a number of produce grading and packing lines with refrigeration and cool room infrastructure. Crops being produced on the two sites include almonds, wine grapes, citrus, mangoes, seedless watermelon, rockmelons, broccoli, and pumpkin.

Key operational accountabilities include:

  • Manage the operational performance for the production facility ensuring daily production targets are consistently achieved.
  • Oversee the quality control team ensuring all product meets customers specifications.
  • Design of the production facility workforce and shift plans.
  • Liaising with other members of the supply chain team to prioritise, plan and implement daily and weekly packing schedules.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller will work closely with our finance team to develop their skills. As part of the finance team, the key duties for this role include: 

 

  • Providing leadership and mentoring to the finance team, overseeing the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and administrative functions. 
  • Providing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Preparing year end statutory accounts and liaising with external and internal auditing. 
  • Oversee Rombola Family Farms’ accounting and financial policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Rombola Family Farms’ compliance with accounting standards and recommend modification of internal policies and procedures where necessary.

About you:

The Chief Financial Officer is an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing financial insight and expertise to support key business and strategic decisions.  As head of the Finance Team, the Manager will lead all aspects of the Finance Function, including completion and analysis supporting reporting, compliance, budgeting/forecasting and cash flow management.

The role also involves providing financial, administrative, and clerical support to the organisation.

  • Review and process freight invoices against standard price lists and agree invoices to supporting documentation.
  • Process receipting for deliveries via Dynamics.
  • Process invoices in Dynamics via manual entry or using OCR tool and attach supporting documents before submitting for review.
  • Reconcile supplier statements monthly, and follow up outstanding invoices.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and maintain strong relationships.

This role will operate appropriate equipment to undertake effective repair and fabrication of agricultural equipment and machinery to minimise operational downtime. The ideal candidate must be competent in using equipment following all safety precautions, great attention to detail and have the ability to examine work for defects. You will ensure equipment service history records are kept up to date and assist to maintain a tidy and well organised work environment.

To be considered for casual employment with us during harvest, you will need to:

  • Be available to commence work with us for the entire harvest period from December 2022 through to April 2023. Be available for day or night shifts up to 12 hours, up to 7 days a week including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays on a roster.
  • Be capable and willing to work in a busy environment. Due to the high physical demands of these positions and regular periods of hot weather workers will need to be physically fit and self-motivated.
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, New Zealand citizen or hold a valid work visa and be able to provide evidence of your right to work.

The Agronomist is a key support to the agronomy team and will assist with pest monitoring, field trials, and help manage assessments. They will be responsible for field collections of sap, tissue, and soil samples, and prepare the samples for analysis by an independent laboratory.
